Olusegun George Adeomowo was appointed a Junior Research Fellow in 1989 at the Institute for Advanced Medical Research and Training (IAMRAT) and joint appointment with the Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics. He rose through the ranks and was promoted Professor of Pharmacology & Therapeutics in 2005. He is well known worldwide in the field of malaria research where he continues to make significant contributions He is Head of the Drug Research unit in IAMRAT. He leads a multidisciplinary research team. His research focus is on epidemiology and pathogenesis of malaria, malaria diagnostics, drug discovery, drug disposition kinetics and clinical trials of antimalarial drugs and vaccines. He works on biochemical and molecular mechanisms of drug resistance in malaria. He teaches pharmacology at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He is a mentor to many staff and students. He has won several research grants from Local and International agencies. He has many research collaborators spread across the globe. He has attended and organised many conferences and workshops locally and internationally. He is patron and staff adviser to a number of student organisations. Professor Ademowo is Research Consultant to The Panacea Project.
